Professor's passion for ancient history lives on

Emeritus Professor Beryl Rawson made a generous bequest in her will to the ANU Classics Endowment to promote study of the classics and ancient history.

The bequest will go toward research grants, scholarships and curatorial support to the ANU Classics Museum.

Professor Rawson, who died in 2010, was a world expert in Roman history who dedicated 45 years of her career to ANU. She was one of the University’s most respected academics and remained actively involved in University life well after retirement. The Beryl Rawson Building at the College of Arts and Social Sciences was named in her honour.
